Robert Spenceley b.1833

 

Robert Spenceley was born in Pickering on the 12th May 1833. His parents were William Spenceley and Jane Todd. Robert had left Pickering sometime before the 1851 census ending up in Middlesbrough where in 1858 He married.
Robert and Jane had three children that I know survived childhood all born in Middlesbrough, it is Robert's family that make up the majority of the Middlesbrough Spenceleys. William, his brother, settled his family in North Ormesby.
Robert ended up in the Middlesbrough Workhouse where he was recorded in the 1891 census and died 1892.

John Spenceley b.1860

 

John Spenceley married Margaret Scott on 9th June 1884 in Middlesbrough. They lived in Hatherley street which was in the "Cannon Street" area of Middlesbrough. Margaret died in 1887 and John married again in 1889 to a Elizabeth Annie Hayter and had a further four children.

William Spenceley married Mary Pope in Middlesbrough and lived in Argyle street in the same area as his brother John. William and Mary had six children
